II. Legal requirements

The legal requirements are set out in the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG), in particular Section 14 in conjunction with Section 3(1) of the BFSG, with reference to the Ordinance on the Accessibility Enhancement Act (BFSG). These laws and regulations refer to the Harmonised European Standard (EN) 301 549, version 3.2.1, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.2, Levels A and AA.

III. Compliance with accessibility requirements

Our online shop meets the key requirements of WCAG 2.2 (Conformity Level AA) and the technical requirements set out in the BFSG Regulation. Below, we have summarised the most important aspects, broken down according to the four accessibility criteria: Perceivability, Operability, Understandability and Robustness:

  • Use of semantically correct HTML structures and targeted use of ARIA attributes to ensure compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies
  • Including meaningful alt text for relevant images
  • Ensuring sufficient colour contrast, at least 4.5:1 for body text, for better readability
  • Scalability of the shop up to 200% whilst maintaining full functionality
  • Accessibility of all key functions without a mouse and usability via the keyboard
  • Structured and logical focus and navigation sequence for an intuitive user experience
  • No time limits, so that users can access content at their own pace
  • No flashing or potentially epilepsy-inducing elements
  • Use of clear language and a consistent, non-distracting interface
  • Support through error messages and, where appropriate, auto-suggestions for form entries
  • Interactive elements such as sliders or videos are easy to use and can be paused or stopped
  • All relevant shop functions are also accessible via touch (tap)
  • Clean, standards-compliant code to ensure stable display and interaction across different devices and assistive technologies

We are also continuously working to improve the quality of our accessibility. This includes, for example:

  • ongoing optimisation of alt text for media used on the site. In doing so, we prioritise content-based media such as photos or images to enhance comprehensibility
  • adjusting contrast levels and background colours to improve accessibility whilst maintaining brand identity
